Oliv, launched in 2019, aimed to become a leading hiring platform in the MENA region, attracting 10,000 to 20,000 new users each week. However, feedback and research revealed that the existing messaging system was quite basic. I was assigned to revamp the messaging system to improve efficiency for recruiters in organizing, grouping, scheduling, and managing information about potential hires. Additionally, a new AI, "Olivia," was introduced to enhance user interactions and responses.
Evaluation
The existing Oliv messaging system allowed employers to send messages to candidates in a basic back-and-forth format, lacking features such as filtering, searching, or associating candidates with specific job applications. This was a significant pain point for employers managing multiple job openings. Additionally, the chatbot was underwhelming and frustrating to use, only handling a few basic tasks effectively.
I conducted discussions to ideate with the product team about the potentials of the system. I conducted analysis on modern chatting systems to implement similarity into Oliv. I designed new functionalities, including calendars, a side menu for quick access, document navigation, job grouping, interview invitations, and filters. Additionally, we integrated Olivia AI to assist employers with suggestions, management, and scheduling reminders.
Result
A closed beta test was launched to asses usability. User interviews and feedback revealed that the new messaging system was a success, leading to higher user satisfaction. It improved efficiency and significantly reduced the time required to manage conversations. The revamp is still in progress.
